New energy thanks to collagen peptides

Many ice hockey players in the Schwenninger Wild Wings team were regularly injured and could not train or play – until the professional team discovered GELITA’s bioactive collagen peptides (BCP®).

The 2018/19 season in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) did not go ideally for the Wild Wings. At least eight players were out for more than two games, so more than seven days, due to muscle strain. One professional athlete was unable to play for more than four months due to chronic inflammation in the hip flexor and groin area, and another team member had to sit out for an extended period of time due to chronic patella tendon discomfort.

Fewer injuries, fewer absences

Then GELITA’s TENDOFORTE®, FORTIGEL® and FORTIBONE® collagen peptides came into play in the 2019/2020 season. 22 players and also coach Hendrik Kolbert used the products regularly. Athletes without any indicated injury should take five grams daily, players with complaints were recommended the amount of ten grams of the appropriate collagen peptide.

Dry training

At the end of the season the team was able to draw a positive conclusion: There were no absences of more than seven days due to physical strain. Only three players suffered a pulled muscle, irritation or hardening. On average, the downtime was less than five days and players were only out for one game.

Pain in the adductors, hip flexors and groin, which limited the quality of movement, also decreased significantly. While 80 percent of players previously complained of such pain symptoms, less than 20 percent did so in the 2019/2020 season. Just as pleasing: The number of injuries due to external causes remained at a low level.

Back to the old shape with collagen peptides

The player, who had been suffering from patellar tendinitis for some time, also benefited from the collagen peptides. He took ten grams each of TENDOFORTE® and FORTIGEL® daily. After ten months, his symptoms improved considerably and he was able to train and compete again. This player also underwent surgery for a cartilage defect in his other knee. He kept up with the TENDOFORTE® and FORTIGEL® supplements he was already taking. Stabilization and strength training as well as training on the ice could be resumed earlier, significantly shortening the return-to-play time.

Athletic coach Hendrik Kolbert had been suffering from chronic knee complaints (bilateral patellar tendinitis) himself for years and had to reduce the amount of training he did. He could only perform long runs, hard sprints and certain exercises with severe pain or he even had to stop training. This also limited his activity as a coach, because he could no longer demonstrate some exercises. Kolbert took ten grams of TENDOFORTE® daily and an accompanying five grams of FORTIGEL®. After just one month he noticed a significant improvement. After four months he was able to put his full weight on his knees again. After one year, Hendrik Kolbert was completely symptom-free and was able to perform his important work as an athletic coach 100 percent again.
